Biography
Frank Düpree was born on the 6th of December in Rastatt, a small town in the South of Germany.His parents noticed their son’s talent early on and bought him his first instrument, a drumset,
when he was only three years old.
At the age of five he received his first classes in piano from Roswitha Rieger.
Since 1998 he has been tought by Sontraud Speidel, concert pianist and professor for piano at the Karlsruhe University of Music. From 2002 on she has tought him as a pupil in the pre-college division
for especially talented young students at Karlsruhe University.
As a junior student Frank Düpree has attended various music classes. Since the autumn semester of 2004-2005, he has been the only pre-college pupil in Germany to be accepted into the exclusive conducting class of Prof. Peter Eötvös. Since the summer semester 2008 he has been taught by Prof. Hans Zender, guest conductor of the SWR Symphony Orchestra Baden-Baden and Freiburg.
Despite his young age Frank Düpree can already look back on a great number of competition successes and concerts. He is a solo pianist in recitals, a piano solist with orchestra, a chamber musician, as well as a conductor and percussionist.
Playing the piano solo, the piano duo, the duo with violin, flute or clarinet and the percussion he has since 2000 received over 60 national and international prices.
His first price he wan at the Robert-Schuhmann Competition in April 2000 when he was at the tender age of eight.
In 2006 he received the prestigious ”Prix d’espoir” of the European Culture Foundation.
A host of awards, there under mostly first prices, he collected within the German Contest “Youth plays music” (Jugend musiziert).
In June 2008 Frank Düpree wan the „e-Piano Junior Competition“ in Minneapolis/ USA which invited entries from all over the world and counts to the most difficult competitions of the age group under 18s.
His concerts and participation in contests made Frank Düpree see many parts of the world until now:He performed in Paris, St. Petersburg, Rome, Moscow, Venice, Vienna, Salzburg as well as in Beijing and Chengdu.
Frank Düpree is and has always been a welcome guest in TV shows. In November 2003 he enchanted the Romanian audience in Bukarest with his abilities.
On November 13 in 2006 he enthralled at the international piano competition „Concorso Pianistico Internazionale ROMA 2006“ at Rome University, which had been broadcasted live in Italian television.
He wan the first prize.
In Germany you could already watch Frank in the SWR. Frank Elstner had for example invited him into his quiz show: “The Best in the Southwest” in December 2006.
